The congregation focuses on pastoral works Health and education. Our cornerstone is evangelization by words as well as works of love and mercy to the needy for God’s Glory                    

HEALTH

Aspiring to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, the congregation aims at helping all people access quality health service. This is achieved through provision of both preventive and curative health services .Qualified healthcare professionals from our Congregation are working in government, and private healthcare facilities, as well as primary healthcare and preventive healthcare services at grassroots levels.  We also own three health centers namely St. Therese Health Centre, Bukoba Municipal, Kagera Region, St. Therese Health Centre Kajunguti, Missenyi District, Kagera Region and Kifuru Outreach Centre, Kisarawe District, Dar-es-Salaam.

EDUCATION

The Congregation of the Sister of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, Bukoba Catholic Diocese, recognizes the potential of education for children and youth and its contribution to their resourcefulness and adaptability to environmental dynamics. Some of our members are teacher at different levels. We teach young children and adolescents in primary and secondary schools and young adults in colleges and other higher learning institutions(private and public)the education institution run by the congregation commit to producing graduates with excellent academic performance, practical skills and abilities to pursue further academic engagement and invariably coupled with moral values. The Congregation is owns and runs four Primary Schools, two Secondary Schools and two Vocational Training Centre 

The Primary Schools owned and run by our congregation include:

    • Bishop Huwiler English Medium Primary School, Misenyi District, Kagera Region
    • St. Therese of Lisieux English Medium Primary School, Ilala District, Dar-es-Salaam
    • Theresian pre and Primary School Ubungo District, Dar-es-Salaam
    • Caritas St. Therese English Medium Primary School, Muleba District, Kagera Region

The Secondary Schools includes:

    • Hekima Girls Secondary School, Bukoba District, Kagera Region
    • Holy Family Girls Secondary School, Nyamagana District, Mwanza Region.

 The Congregation sponsors  Divine Mercy Girls Seminary which was exclusively established to admit the girls aspiring for sisterhood. Students are admitted as Aspirants for the four years period to pursue secondary education at the seminary while undergoing Religious life formation. Thought not all girls are expected to join Religious life, the formation and education they acquire, help them to stand as strong and competent women, adding value to the church, our nation and the entire world around them. This seminary is in Muleba District Kagera Region.

The Vocational Training Centres are:

    • Kashozi Vocational Training Centre, Bukoba District, Kagera Region
    • St. Maria Goreth Organization (for OVC and youth ), Bukoba District, Kagera Region.

PASTORAL

Members of our Congregations devote their time to teaching Religion to people of all ages and guiding them to live a God fearing and more life. We teach Religion to youth children who are preparing to receive the holy sacrament of Baptism, the Eucharist and confirmation.  We prepare adult Christians for the sacraments of Baptism, holy communion , Confirmation and Marriage. We teach Religion in schools as well as managing and advising apostolic associations in Parishes. Together with the above, the Congregation invests i women and youth empowerment through training and counseling .Currently we are implementing a women empowerment project (Opportunity for Women Empowerment – FURSA aiming at improving their social and economic status. This project helps women to get acquainted with the knowledge of their rights, assume their family and community responsibilities, and actively participate in civic engagement as well as engaging in entrepreneurship activities. More than 500 women are benefiting from this project.
